How Far Will Phyllis Go To Destroy Christine on Young and Restless?

Daniel will be so grateful.

Just when we thought Phyllis had gone as insane as inhumanly possible on The Young and the Restless, she found a new layer to unveil on October 29. Phyllis believes that Christine hates her so much that she will deliberately throw the case of defending Daniel, the son of the man Christine is currently involved with. (We’re not even bothering to point out that Heather was Christine’s former stepdaughter, too.) Phyllis hates that no one believes her loony rantings. So how can she prove that she’s right and everyone else is wrong?

We Need a Hero

The most important thing for Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) is to be seen as the hero. She actually faked her own death to try and prove that Diane (Susan Walters) was…bad? We’re still fuzzy on what she was trying to accomplish.

So, does anybody doubt she’d do something equally insane to frame Christine (Lauralee Bell)? Phyllis wants everyone to believe that Phyllis is right, and Christine will railroad Daniel (Michael Graziadei) into prison to get back at Christine. (That is some serious main-character energy there, as the kids would say.) What better way to do that…than to sabotage Chris’ case.

See It Now

In Phyllis’s mind, it makes perfect sense. Although she agreed to work with Christine, what if she makes Christine’s defense of Daniel fail? That will drive home her first point. And then, since Phyllis made it happen, Phyllis will also be the one to come forward at the last minute with the evidence that will exonerate Daniel, making Phyllis the hero!

Sure, Daniel will have a little more stress, what with being convinced of murder. But, oh, how grateful he will be when his loving mother saves him from the electric chair at the last minute. He will finally — finally! — forgive Phyllis for crimes that began in his childhood and lasted his entire life. He will finally understand that everything Phyllis ever did was out of love for him. Even the bad stuff. Especially the bad stuff.
