Actor Jermaine Rivers has only appeared on The Young and the Restless a few times so far, yet he has already made an impression.

The actor and military veteran (he served in the military for 20 years) recently introduced himself with a handy new social media video courtesy of CBS. He played Fast Five with Jermaine Rivers and revealed five facts about himself.
- Fast Fact #1: He’s an army brat who was born in Vicenza, Italy.
- Fast Fact #2: The three words he’d use to describe his Y&R character, Damian Kane: 1) Cool. 2) Calculating. 3) Mysterious.
- Fast Fact #3: The Oscar-winning movie The Godfather influenced him to be an actor.
- Fast Fact #4: Who else is he looking forward to working with on Y&R? Peter Bergman (Jack) and Eric Braeden (Victor).
- Fast Fact #5: A spoiler-free tease for Damian’s storyline? Damian will, in Rivers’s words, “Shake things up” in Genoa City, “using a little subterfuge and trickery.”
What Else You Need To Know
Rivers loved playing a Marvel superhero named Shatter on the short-lived Fox series The Gifted. In a message on social media, he reflected on his pivotal 2017-2018 role. “Sometimes the characters we play show us how to be better versions of ourselves. Sometimes they live in us long after the cameras stop rolling, and for that I’m grateful…

While Rivers is new to daytime TV, he’s no stranger to soaps and playing soapy drama. A few of his small screen credits include appearing in OWN’s Queen Sugar, FOX’s Our Kind of People, the CW’s Dynasty reboot, Tyler Perry’s The Haves and Have Nots, and Lifetime’s Devious Maids. He also appeared in a couple of season three episodes of Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias.
More recently, he guest starred on NBC’s Found, playing the integral role of Ian Sessions, the addict whom Gaby and her team are tasked with finding. Rivers also appeared in an episode of the Power spinoff, Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

Rivers’ familiarity with Y&R is completely due to his mother, who adores the show. In fact, he “basically grew up watching the show,” the actor recently told TV Insider. And when his mom discovered that her son would be joining the number-one daytime drama on TV, she knew exactly who he’d be playing. She asked him if he was “gonna play the new son. She follows it! She doesn’t miss an episode,” Rivers hilariously explained.
