Jason Canela was enjoying a nice run on Young and the Restless as Arturo Rosales when the show opted to jettison the character. In a case of “everything happens for a reason,” the actor is now enjoying his role on Palm Royale, a hit Apple TV+ series that features an all-star cast!
Canela plays Eddie, a tennis pro at the Palm Royale, who is always ready to lend his students a helping hand with their swing (if you know what we mean!). The show stars Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live), Laura Dern (Big Little Lies), and the legendary Carol Burnett (The Carol Burnett Show; ex-Verla Grubbs, All My Children). Palm Royale tells the story of Wigg’s character, Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons, who is anxious to live in high society.
“What a dream job it is to be a part of the #PalmRoyale family,” Canela shared on Instagram. “I’ve always thanked God from a young age and even today for giving me the clarity in knowing from early on in life that I wanted to be an actor.
“It isn’t just showing up on a screen,” adds Jason Canela, who became a new dad in 2023 to daughter Jovie Rose. “It’s dedicating one’s life to the craft, it’s making sacrifices, it’s knowing that the work is in the audition process and that one has to stay ready so that one can receive the blessings one is so diligently working towards. I’m so thrilled for our Palm Royale fam!! [Receiving] 11 EMMY nominations is [expletive] WILD!!!! Congratulations to our CAST & CREW.”
When Soap Hub spoke to Burnett earlier this year, she shared a hope that Television City in Hollywood, the home to Y&R and Bold and the Beautiful, would hang onto a good deal of its history in light of proposed changes to the production facility. You can read that interview here.
