On the September 13 episode of The Young and the Restless, Claire and Kyle kissed. That happened after she had a discussion with Jack, and he told her she felt like a member of the family. Plus, Claire recently changed her last name to Newman. We can’t help but notice that in the span of just a few months after trying to murder Genoa City’s most powerful family, now she’s a member of it and getting closer to the other. Does anybody think this is weird?
About Face
We do. We can’t help but want to see the soapy drama here. Yes, we know Claire (Hayley Erin) was kidnapped (supposedly) by her evil Aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk). Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Cole (J. Eddie Peck) believed their daughter had died, and Jordan raised her to hate the Newmans.
All it took to reform Claire was a few weeks in a facility, and now she’s suddenly out and pure as the driven snow. From Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) to a veritable Mary Poppins as Harrison’s (Redding Munsell) part-time nanny, we’ve rarely seen a bigger about-face in soaps than the one Claire has had.

Drama
Of course, that would be too easy and not at all soapy. We think perhaps this is part of Claire’s long game. Sure, she’s mad at Aunt Jordan, but she’s not little Miss Innocent. Instead, Claire is making inroads in both the Newman and Abbott families, hoping to ensure she’s set for life. We’ve seen many others do the same over the years.
Even teaming up with Kyle as he’s going against Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters) could be beneficial in the end if Victor gets the revenge he’s hoping to get against Jack. Who knows? Maybe Claire is secretly part of Victor’s plan to tear the Abbotts apart. We expect that she’ll eventually put herself in the position to run one of the Newman or Abbott companies when all is said and done.
Is Claire going to use this money to do good or evil? That remains to be seen, but we certainly can’t blame her for wanting a taste of the good life, even if she has to pretend to be somebody else entirely to do it. What do you think? Is this part of the long game for Claire?
