Diane is one of The Young and the Restless’ famous vixens. However, since her 2022 return, she’s reformed and become a good girl. But could it be time for her to revert back to her wicked ways?
No More Nice Girl
Diane (Susan Walters) has caused lots of drama during her time in Genoa City. Some of her past misdeeds include trying to break up Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Jack’s (Peter Bergman) marriage, feuding with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), and faking her death.
When she made her miraculous return in 2022, she worked hard to redeem herself. It took time, but Diane eventually reconciled with her son Kyle (Michael Mealor) and married Jack.
Since then, she’s been on the up and up asserting herself as an Abbott and businesswoman. However, fans feel that Diane’s life needs to be shaken up with a return to her bad side. On a soap opera message board, viewers expressed their desire to see the old Diane.
“I miss seeing the real Diane…the backstabbing, conniving witch that she was,” wrote one fan.
“I’d like them to write her with more edge. I wish Jack would cheat or something, break them up and watch Dark Dee Dee emerge,” one user suggested.
Another viewer thinks that Diane still has some wickedness in her, “Diane isn’t about being nice so much as being smarter about when to strike.”
Things are going smoothly for Diane at the moment. Her and Jack’s marriage is solid, and she’s helping him run Jabot. But all it takes is for someone or something to push Diane’s buttons for her bad girl side to return.
With Audra (Zuleyka Silver) making a play for Kyle, perhaps Diane’s Mama Bear mode will come out. Diane feuding with Audra would make for excellent drama with Mrs. Abbott trying to ruin Miss Charles.
Or maybe Billy (Jason Thompson) will reignite Diane’s dark side. Jack is putting Jabot’s trust in Billy as they take down Cane (Billy Flynn). If Billy does anything to put Jabot in jeopardy, Diane will make sure her brother-in-law pays dearly.
