Viewers of Desperate Housewives know that Eva Longoria, who played Isabella on The Young and the Restless, can play comedy and drama. Now, on the heels of her playing the lead in Land of Women later this year on Apple TV comes word of another project.
Eva Longoria: The Pickup
Deadline reports that Longoria is joining the cast of The Pickup, a comedy for Amazon MGM. Joining Longoria in the movie are Ismael Cruz Cordova (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), Jack Kesy (Hellboy: The Crooked Man), and Marshawn Lynch (Bottoms).
Soaps aren’t the only genre in which story details are kept under lock and key. Who the actors are playing and what the film’s plot is aren’t being announced just yet. The movie’s cast also includes Pete Davidson (Saturday Night Live), Keke Palmer (The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy), and comedian Andrew Dice Clay.
In addition to appearing in Land of Women, which Soap Hub wrote about here, Longoria can also be seen in the fourth season of Hulu’s hit series Only Murders in the Building. Land of Women doesn’t have a premiere date. However, Longoria spoke last month about how her character in that series, Gala, is dissimilar from Gaby on Desperate Housewives. “[They are] very different,” she says. “Gala is in identity crisis at the beginning of the show. Her whole life has been a lie, and she has to flee suddenly to a country she doesn’t really know, a language [she] doesn’t really speak with her mother, who may or may not have Alzheimer’s, and her daughter is in a rebellious phase, and she can’t find her husband.”
