Veteran actor Eric Braeden, best known for his portrayal of The Great Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless, is facing one of the most challenging moments of his life. After losing his Los Angeles home in a devastating wildfire earlier this year, the 82-year-old star has vowed to rebuild not just his house but, also his community.
Eric Braeden Speaks Out
Braeden took to Instagram yesterday to share his thoughts on the loss, the rebuilding process, and his concerns about the country’s future. His emotional video resonated with fans, offering a raw glimpse into the heartbreak of losing everything in an instant.
In his Instagram post, Braeden reflected on the ruins of his home. “It looks pretty damn devastating,” he admitted. “But I want to rebuild. It’s a beautiful area…but there’s nothing left. Amazing how that happens.”
Braeden’s sentiments reflect the struggles of many Americans who have faced natural disasters. “So many people live in ravaged areas in America – ravaged by floods, hurricanes, tornadoes,” he said. “You all know what I’m talking about. It’s tough to lose your home. It’s very disorienting, you know. You just don’t know anymore where the hell you belong.”

Since the loss of his home, Braeden has been moving from one hotel to another, searching for stability. “It reminds me of the very early days,” he said, recalling his arrival in the United States in 1959 with nothing.
A Call for Change
Beyond his personal loss, Braeden expressed deep concerns about the country’s direction. He spoke about the importance of maintaining social programs and foreign aid, warning against political figures who seek to dismantle them.
“We cannot let this country go to pots because of maybe some psychologically very disturbed characters,” Braeden said, without naming names. “We are being misled by networks that simplify complex problems.”
Braeden also criticized certain billionaires, suggesting that their influence over political affairs is damaging to the nation. “We, our tax dollars, made that man a billionaire,” he said, referring to one public figure in particular. “We’ve got to wake up.”
Determined to Move Forward
Despite the challenges, Braeden remains committed to moving forward. “Amazing what we can get used to,” he mused in his video. His resilience echoes the spirit of many who have lost their homes to natural disasters but find the strength to start over.
As he prepares to rebuild, Braeden’s message is clear: his love for his home and community remains unwavering, and he will not be deterred by loss or political turmoil. “We are going to do something,” he assured his followers. “Because we cannot let this country fall apart.”
