Eric Braeden is paying tribute to the late Meg Bennett, who recently passed away. Bennett played Julia, Victor Newman’s wife when the two actors debuted on The Young and the Restless in 1980.

“My first ‘wife’ Julia, played by my friend MEG BENNETT, has passed away! She succumbed to the ravages of cancer!” Braeden lamented on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I had not seen much of MEG in the last years, except at my 40th anniversary!
“She was such a bright and gentle lady! I remember she taught me about the history of soaps and the actors in it!” the actor adds. (Bennett had played the role heroine Liza on Search for Tomorrow in the 1970s.) “She was very bright and BILL BELL [Y&R’s creator, head writer, sr. executive producer] had her write for him!
“She was a pleasure to be around and have conversations with; always very informed!” Braeden continued. “I remember her infectious smile and gentleness! She was a beautiful woman! May you rest in peace, dear MEG! Yours ERIC!
“My condolences. I remember the party at your 40th anniversary,” shared jojo7 on X. “When Victor greeted Julia, I recall thinking that greeting seemed personal, something deeper than just a scene, but that you really were happy she was there.”
