The Young and the Restless Peter Bergman is no stranger to bringing the heat as Jack on the CBS soap. Playing the character has earned Bergman 25 Daytime Emmy nominations.

Key Takeaways

  • Peter Bergman submitted a special episode to land his latest Emmy nod.
  • Jack the savior risked it all for Nikki.
  • Bergman has won three times.

The Special Episode

Bergman doesn’t lose sight of the fact that he continues to be nominated for his work as Jack. However, Bergman hasn’t won it in over 20 years, and it’s been over 30 years since his first win.

The actor won the Daytime Emmy for Lead Actor in 1991, 1992, and 2002. Thanks to his submission, this could be Bergman’s year to win again. Unlike other actors who may have submitted material from various episodes surrounding a specific storyline, Bergman focused on one episode from May 2024.

Bergman submitted scenes from the standalone episode in which Jack tried to help Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) with her sobriety. Nikki had fallen off the wagon, thanks to evil Jordan (Colleen Zenk).

Jack found a wasted Nikki in a hotel room and spent the night trying to help her get sober. When Nikki wouldn’t listen, Jack gave up his own sobriety to save his friend.

Not only were Bergman and Scott phenomenal in the episode, but Jack’s actions kicked off another infamous feud with Victor (Eric Braeden). The mustache blamed Jack for Nikki’s drinking instead of understanding he was trying to help.

The fallout has been the revisiting of a classic Y&R feud, as Nikki navigates between her friends and husband.

Bergman revealed that those scenes were some of the most challenging work that he has ever done on the CBS soap. Being nominated for those scenes with Scott was a treat for Bergman, but it was bittersweet when she was not also nominated.

In a few days, soap fans will find out if Bergman takes home his fourth Daytime Emmy. There’s some stiff competition in the category, though.

The other Leading Actor nominees include: Days of our Lives stars Eric Martsolf (Brady), Greg Rikaart (Leo), and Paul Telfer (Xander), and General Hospital‘s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante).
