Christopher Cousins, known to soap fans for his roles as Colin on As the World Turns and Cain on One Life to Live, is joining The Young and the Restless. His first airdate is Tuesday, April 30.
Kissing Cousins
Cousins plays the role of Alan Laurent, a friend of Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) from their time in Paris. Alan isn’t just a friend of the Abbott heiress — he’s also a doctor, a psychiatrist. It’s quite possible he’ll play into the show’s current storyline in which Ashley is going through a mental health crisis.
Cousins’s first soap role was Greg Houston on Another World. He played that part from 1986-87. Next, he turned up as Sabrina’s (Julianne Moore) former beau, Colin, on ATWT.
After Colin came to an end, Cousins joined the cast of OLTL as con artist Cain Rogin, who wed Tina (Karen Witter). Cousins was only in Llanview for a few years, but he reprised the part in 2008. Andrea Evans reclaimed the role of Tina that same year.
The actor is a bona fide soap hopper however, he’s known to TV fans for his memorable roles in many other series, too. Cousins has worked regularly for decades. He played Ambassador Joseph Faxon on two episodes of Stargate SG-1. He’s appeared on The Practice, The O.C., Joan of Arcadia, CSI: Miami, American Dreams, Cold Case, NCIS, Chuck, and Criminal Minds.
He played the role of Gary on UnREAL, appearing in 10 episodes over two seasons. The Lifetime series pulled back the curtain on a fictional reality show that had parallels to The Bachelor. Most recently, in terms of soap opera roles, Cousins appeared on General Hospital as Dr. Kirk, who was part of the storyline that brought Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) back to the canvas.
