CBS and NATAS Announce Big Daytime Emmys News

The Daytime Emmys are going to be broadcast on CBS on Friday, June 16 from 9 to 11 p.m. There’s more good news for daytime fans. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), which administers the awards, and the eye network have struck a new deal.

The Daytime Emmys Are Back on CBS

Not only will the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards air on CBS this year, but next year’s kudo fest will also air on CBS. “We are thrilled to be back with our incredible broadcast partner CBS for two years,” said Adam Sharp, President and CEO, NATAS, in a statement. “In commemorating the show’s golden anniversary this year, we look forward to honoring and celebrating the beloved world of daytime television.”

This will be the 15th time that CBS has aired the Daytime Emmys, which is more than any other network. CBS has a traditional daytime lineup of soap operas (The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful), game shows (The Price is Right, Let’s Make a Deal), and talk shows (The Talk).

CBS Spirit, Oh Yes

“CBS has a storied history in daytime, and we are delighted to continue having The Daytime Emmys on the network for the next two years,” said Mackenzie Mitchell, vice president, specials, music, and live events, CBS, in a statement. “We look forward to celebrating the show’s 50th anniversary and highlighting the best that daytime has to offer.”

Last year, General Hospital took home the top award for Outstanding Drama Series as well as three acting awards. All the shows walked away a winner, with Days of our Lives winning Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series, Mishael Morgan (Amanda, Y&R) won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and B&B’s John McCook (Eric) won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Ted King (Jack) won Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series. The Daytime Emmys: One Big Change

There is one change between this year’s ceremony and ones from recent years. The Daytime Emmys in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022 were held in Pasadena, Calif. This year, the show is returning to the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles where it took place in 2016.

The show will be tape delayed for West Coast viewers. The 50th Daytime Emmy Awards can also be seen on streaming. Paramount+ Premium subscribers will have access to stream live via the live feed of their local CBS affiliate on the service as well as on demand. Essential-tier subscribers will have access to on-demand the day after the special airs.
