What Happened to Dominic?
Dominic was born out of an unconventional but deeply emotional family arrangement on Y&R. Abby (Melissa Ordway) and her husband, Chance (Conner Floyd), wanted a child together, but Chance had been rendered infertile due to a prior injury, and Abby was unable to carry a pregnancy after a devastating miscarriage. Wanting to help, Devon (Bryton James) volunteered to be the sperm donor, and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) agreed to serve as their surrogate.
The pregnancy unfolded largely in Chance’s absence, as he was away on a dangerous undercover assignment. Abby, Devon, and Mariah grew especially close during that time, bonded by shared hope and trust. That bond was tested when Mariah was kidnapped by Abby’s ex-husband, Stitch (Sean Carrigan), who intended to use her pregnancy as a way to force his way back into Abby’s life. Stitch manipulated those close to Mariah by sending deceptive text messages to make it appear she had left voluntarily.
As weeks passed with no sign of Mariah, Devon grew increasingly suspicious and shared his concerns with Abby. When Abby finally confronted Stitch, he confessed and led Abby and Devon to Mariah just as she went into labor. They arrived in time for the birth of the baby Mariah had nicknamed “Bowie” during her captivity.
Both Mariah and the baby were rushed to the hospital and ultimately recovered fully. Abby named the child Dominic, a tribute to Devon and Mariah’s sacrifices, incorporating the initials “D” and “M” into his name. Devon and Mariah were later named Dominic’s godparents during his christening, solidifying their lifelong connection to him.
Eventually, Abby and Devon cheated with each other, causing Chance to divorce Abby. Ultimately, Abby and Devon got married and lived as a family with Dominic and Chance visited. Then, Chance died, and now Devon and Abby are raising Dominic.
Actress Melissa Ordway was moved to recurring on Y&R in 2024, and Abby hasn’t been in many front-burner storylines since then.
