Young and the Restless’ Brytni Sarpy Teases Elena ‘Could’ Get In Some Drama Over Former Flame

Last April, Soap Hub asked a question: What happened to Elena Dawson on The Young and the Restless? At one point during the character’s existence, she was involved with Devon and then Nate, but both relationships fizzled. She also worked hard at the hospital and was a budding doctor influencer. It’s November 2024, and the character hasn’t appeared in a single episode this year. But that’s about to change. Last month, Brytni Sarpy dropped big news on Y&R fans. She and Dr. Elena Dawson are about to return to the show.

Welcome Back, Dr. Dawson!

It’s a good bet that Elena’s return to Genoa City is imminent. After all, Sarpy checked in with fans (on her IG story) from the Y&R studio back on October 1. It’s mid-November, which means six weeks have passed, and that’s enough time for her scenes to go from set to screen.

“It’s been great (being back),” Sarpy recently told soap journalist Michael Fairman. Unfortunately, the actress couldn’t share much about why her character had finally materialized. However, she gave some hints. It turns out she’ll appear opposite characters Elena normally doesn’t interact with. Hmmm…could it be the characters that popped up at the end of Y&R’s Thursday, November 14 episode?

Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) was in a car accident, and Sharon (Sharon Case) worried she had caused it. However, viewers now know that Ian Ward (Ray Wise) and Crazy Aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk) have been messing with Genoa City’s citizens. Could they be in need of Elena’s medical skills?

It isn’t known how long Sarpy will be back this time around. It’s also unclear whether Elena will get involved with another love interest. When asked, the actress simply teased, “She could.”

Sarpy couldn’t be more clear about why she was happy to be back. “It’s really nice to kind of go back and see all the crew and see old friends and then also work with new people.”
