The soap operas have not been affected directly by the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, but the annual awards show honoring them has been. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has made a major announcement related to The 50th Annual Daytime Emmys, which were set for Friday, June 16.
“The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards planned for Friday, June 16 on CBS is postponed due to the WGA [Writers Guild of America] strike. In addition, the Creative Arts Lifestyle ceremony, planned for Saturday, June 17, has been postponed pending a strike resolution. We look forward to our community gathering together as one to celebrate our Golden Anniversary and all of the talented nominees and honorees at a later day.”
The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards nominations were revealed on April 26. General Hospital lead the nominations with 19, followed by The Bold and the Beautiful with 14, The Young and the Restless earned 13 nods, and Days of our Lives scored 11. Digital drama Beyond Salem: Chapter 2 (Peacock) and The Bay (Popstar! TV) earned three nominations each. Click here for a list of which actors and shows were nominated.
