Veteran CBS soap opera fans recall Brad Sanders, AKA Clarence, who brought all the soap scoop to viewers back in the day. Now, he’s coming back to your screens on The Young and the Restless.
Sanders returns as his popular, soap-loving character, Clarence, when he makes a special appearance on Y&R on Wednesday, December 27.
Who is Clarence? He’s Sanders’s alter-ego, who is described as a cool, well-dressed character with an extensive hat collection, who provides a streetwise summary of soap opera highlights each week.
Sanders appeared in several segments at the Daytime Emmys one year in bridging pieces that helped introduce each Best Drama Series nomination. Sanders himself earned two Daytime Emmy nominations in the category of New Approaches to Daytime Entertainment category for the Clarence Update (get the details on this year’s Daytime Emmys ceremony here).
In 1990, Clarence was the main character in a CBS Daytime campaign titled CBS Soap Central, where fans could call a 1-900 number for updates and scoop on upcoming episodes of Y&R, The Bold and the Beautiful, As the World Turns, and Guiding Light. Check out a TV spot for Soap Central below.
In addition to his upcoming appearance on Y&R, Sanders can be seen in the upcoming movie musical The Color Purple.
