Beth Maitland plays the beloved Traci on The Young and the Restless. Like many characters, Traci has endured much heartache. Just when it seemed like things were taking a positive turn, there was a dark plot twist.
’Not Surprised’
Traci has gone through lots of heartbreak the past few years. She had to mourn the deaths of her daughter Colleen (ex-Tammin Sursok), her ex-husband Brad (ex-Don Diamont), and her father John (the late Jerry Douglas). She also divorced her husband Steve (ex-Greg Wrangler), prompting her move back to Genoa City.
After enduring one tragedy after another, it looked like Traci had finally found happiness with Alan (Christopher Cousins). However, it appears her fiancé isn’t who he says he is. It turns out Alan is the one responsible for Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Sharon’s (Sharon Case) kidnapping.
The revelation of Alan being a bad guy shocked and angered most fans. However, Maitland wasn’t upset by the plot twist.
Speaking with TV Insider, the actress discussed the latest heartbreak coming for Traci.
”I was absolutely not surprised,” Maitland said. “I mean, you can’t be happy on daytime very long, or if you are, you’re relegated to go upstairs to wash your hair and never come back. The good news is that we start from the perspective that Traci already has a life she loves, she has people that matter to her, she has purpose, and she has a career that she also loves. She’s everybody’s go-to for a sounding board and a moral compass, so Traci already has a complete, happy life.”
Now that Traci’s suspicions are aroused, it’s a matter of time before Alan’s crime is exposed. Although this is another heartache, it’s not the end for Traci. She has her family and friends, who love and care for her, and will help with this latest heartbreak.
