Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) has shared her two cents on Chelsea’s connection with Adam (Mark Grossman) and Billy (Jason Thompson). The actress spoke with Soap Opera Digest to reveal that Chelsea will always have a special bond with Billy because he saved her.
When Chelsea was struggling with her mental health, Billy literally pulled her off the ledge. It’s because of that bond that Egan feels Chelsea will always defend Billy, even if Adam doesn’t like it.
“She wouldn’t be here,” Egan explained about Chelsea having a soft spot for Billy. She also added that Chelsea still has guilt over cheating on Billy with Adam after he saved her life.
There’s no question that Billy causes tension between Adam and Chelsea. However, those two are used to tension, trouble, and drama in their relationship.
One thing Egan noted that constantly causes issues in the relationship is Adam’s loyalty and willingness to do Victor’s (Eric Braeden) dirty work. Egan thinks this leads to Chelsea having to play the angel on Adam’s shoulder to protect him from himself.
“He’s still always gonna be Adam; [there’s] a little bit of a devil inside him, too, but he’s listening to [Chelsea], which everyone knows is a smart move,” the CBS soap star shared with the outlet.
It’s not lost on Egan that this is the eighth time Chelsea and Adam have been a couple. They certainly have a connection that keeps them finding their way back to each other.
That doesn’t mean they are endgame. Y&R is a soap after all, and very few couples go the distance. Even Egan admitted she has no idea what’s coming for the couple, calling it the “brilliance” of being on the CBS soap.
