Brian Gaskill’s resume is filled with a plethora of daytime gigs. Now he’s adding The Young and the Restless to the list. The actor is set to play Seth, Nikki’s newly introduced AA sponsor.
Gaskill made his soap debut as Bobby Warner on All My Children (1995-1997), and followed that up with an unforgettable run as angel Rafe on Port Charles (2001-2003), and ultimately delved into a trio of CBS soaps – Oscar Marone on The Bold and the Beautiful (2003-2004), BJ Green on As the World Turns (2005) and Dylan Lewis on Guiding Light (2007-2008).
Want to learn more about the actor? Here are seven things to know about him. (Find out more about his Y&R debut here.)
1. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 22, 1970, Gaskill was raised across the United States in Neptune Township, New Jersey.
2. He attended Red Bank Regional High School, focusing on drama at the school’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. He went on to receive a BA degree from the acting conservatory at the State University of New York at Purchase.
3. Gaskill made his television debut on Aaron Spelling’s Melrose Place spinoff Models, Inc. in 1994. He played David Michaels, son of Linda Gray’s Hillary and vice president of the modeling agency.
4. Believe it or not, getting cast as an angel on Port Charles was nothing new for Gaskill. He’d played one before in the short film, Higher Grounds, and was eager to tackle a heavenly messenger again. “There’s something about having that light,” he said in an interview with Soap Opera Weekly. “Playing someone who comes from there is very freeing.”
5. Gaskill was married to Tonya Watts from 2003 to 2012, but they ultimately divorced. They share one daughter, Alabama Zoe, born on September 26, 2005. In a recent Instagram post, he referred to the pretty 18-year-old as his “good luck charm.”
6. Over the years, Gaskill segued into directing music videos. He did “You and Me and Time” for singer Georgette Jones, daughter of country music legends George Jones and Tammy Wynette, as well as Anne McCue’s “Don’t Go to Texas (Without Me).”
7. When he wasn’t working “in the business,” Gaskill held down some regular jobs. He is a trained massage therapist and had a run as an Uber driver too. “It was the first time since being an actor that I had a steady job and was able to get back up on my feet,” shared the actor on Facebook. “So I’m grateful, even though I really wouldn’t recommend anyone to do it full-time. Go get certified in something else.”
