Some players need more storylines…and a few need to fade away for a little while.

The Young and the Restless is heading into 2025 with a bang! Sharon was kidnapped, Mariah discovered Ian Ward lurking around, and the war between the Newmans and the Abbotts is going stronger than ever. As some storylines heat up and others fade into the background, we have a list of three characters we want to see on the front burner…and three that need a break.

Give Me More!

Tracing A New Destiny

First and foremost, we need more Traci (Beth Maitland). She’s the heart and soul of the Abbott family and while 2024 brought more face time, it wasn’t enough. (To be fair, it’s never enough). We’d like to see Traci stick around Genoa City with Alan (Christopher Cousins) so we can see their romance blossom.

Evildoers Rise Again

Soaps aren’t soapy without some serious drama, and we’re getting plenty with Ian Ward (Ray Wise) and Aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk) around. The pair are turning the town upside down one revenge plot at a time and we can’t get enough! We hope to see them scheming and plotting all through 2025.

The Forgotten Pair

One of the most stable romances in town is that of Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Kevin (Greg Rikaart), but you’d never know since we never see them. We sure hope that’s rectified in the new year, and we’ll finally get some serious storyline with those two (and their children!).

Who Needs to Fade Away

Summertime Blues

Summer (Allison Lanier) is a great daughter, a wonderful mother to Harrison, and a good friend. What’s she’s not is a reasonable ex-wife. She sure has a lot to say about the way Kyle (Michael Mealor) lives his life and we think she needs to take a break. Go on a vacation. Take some downtime. Maybe after a few months of self-care and relaxation she’ll come back more settled and concentrate more on herself instead of Kyle.

Calm Down, Billy

Also in need of some time away is Billy (Jason Thompson). His life is a mess right now and he’s not exactly doing the right things to make it better. Instead of licking his wounds and picking himself back up, he’s scheming with Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). Billy needs a break. One with lots of therapy. Maybe then he’ll get his head on straight.

Shaking Up Sharon

Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely love Sharon. She’s one of the best on the show. We’d love to see her in a front-burner storyline every single day, but not like this. Not when all she’s doing is being drugged, set up, and tortured. If anyone needs some downtime, it’s her! Let’s give Sharon the time away she so rightly deserves so she can heal from all her trauma and come back better than ever.
