Key Takeaways

  • Nathan Owens speaks out on Malcolm being Holden’s father.
  • The actor reacts to working with Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox.
  • What’s next for Holden?

Welcome to The Family Holden

Following the episode in which Holden (Owens) learned the truth, the soap star used social media to express his excitement about this big news for Holden. Owens shared a carousel of photos to Instagram featuring him with Shemar Moore (Malcolm), Vivica A. Fox (Stephanie) and Christel Khalil (Lily).

“Anchored into one of the 4 families of Genoa City, Holden is now OFFICIALLY a member of the Winters bloodline! Feeling pretty blessed to be working alongside this group right here. Talented individuals that I’ve watched on screen for a good portion of my life are now my on screen family, wild! Cheers to Young and Restless for making this happen, as well as the fans for tuning in,” he wrote as he captioned the Instagram post.

Owens first joined the CBS soap in January 2025, when he was faking being Damian (Jermaine Rivers), the brother Nate (Sean Dominic) never knew he had. The tables have turned, and Holden is now the brother Lily didn’t know she had and the son Malcolm didn’t know about.

The new development gave Owens the chance to work with Fox and Moore, which makes him feel grateful.

“With Vivica, I legitimately grew up watching her from Independence Day to Kill Bill, to all kinds of stuff, so I was pretty floored when I found out about that,” he told TV Insider.

Owens had a similar reaction when he found out Moore would be his on-screen father. “I grew up seeing him throughout my whole life, and honestly, being compared to him. People were like, ‘Oh, you look kind of like Shemar Moore.” Fast forward years later, and Moore is now playing Owens’ father, which he considers “pretty cool” and a kind of full-circle moment for the actor.

Life for the Winters family has been shaken up thanks to the new Holden, which is one of them. The character not only found out his dad wasn’t who he thought, but also that Malcolm is sick and needs his bone marrow.

Malcolm and Stephanie aren’t sticking around very long. However, the aftermath of their visit will last forever as Holden and the rest of the Winters family navigate this bombshell news.

Holden working with Cane (Billy Flynn) will certainly complicate things with his new family, and we can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
