She’s set to wrap up her contract this week on The Young and the Restless but a new report indicates that Mishael Morgan could return to Genoa City and her fan favorite role as Hilary Curtis!
The actress’ agent, David Ritchie of Ambition Talent, spoke to TV Source about what exactly went down with Morgan’s contract renewal and if they’d be open to future negotiations with the top-rated CBS soap.
The article confirms that Morgan wasn’t dropped on a cycle, but rather this is the end of a two-year deal. (Her first contract was for three years and this current deal, now ending, was for two.) Ritchie shares that negotiations started on a third contract this past spring, but money appeared to be the stumbling block.
“Everything starts in a contract with money and you go from there,” Ritchie explains.
“It all starts with finances essentially, and they [Y&R] were not prepared to give her a raise. So, it would mean that she worked for five years with no increase.”
Morgan’s rep feels that her team had no other choice than to seek other options for their client. “We felt that we were put in the position that we had no choice but to explore other options. In my opinion, there was no give or take. It was sort of a ‘take it or leave it’ scenario.”
Might one of those options be revisiting a deal with Y&R? “I am always willing to take a person’s phone call,” Ritchie responded. “I would say that we parted ways amicably. So yes, I would take any calls that were made. We would be happy to talk to [Y&R] and discuss having Mishael go back. We certainly didn’t end our discussions acrimoniously.”
So it appears that the final door may not be closing on Hilary. Stay tuned for the next development in this backstage soap opera that might turn out to have a happy ending after all!
