More Mariah: Does the Redhead Need a Bigger Story On The Young and the Restless?

Mariah may not have grown up on The Young and the Restless, but her portrayer, Camryn Grimes, did. Viewers loved her as Cassie, and mourned her untimely death alongside Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow).

They were thrilled to see her back as Cassie’s heretofore-unknown twin, Mariah.

Mariah first arrived as the victim of a cult, she then moved onto some pretty crappy relationships, including with Kevin (Greg Rikaart) and Devon (Bryton James). When Mariah and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) connected, fans were happy to see where it might lead.

It lead to Tessa stealing Mariah’s song, and later blackmailing her mother. Mariah reconciled with Tessa in order to help her mom and then did it for real, after she found out how Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Victoria (Amelia Heinle), Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Sharon extracted their revenge.

More Mariah!
Absolutely, 76% of you cheer. Mariah is one of the best young heroines in Genoa City, she has a strong connection to a core family – without being related to practically everyone on the canvas, like Abby (Melissa Ordway).

She has an edge, but also a heart. She also has a TV show. Mariah should pick up where Hilary (Mishael Morgan) left off. And there should be more to her relationship with Tessa than just waiting to see what stunt her beloved will pull next.

Mute Mariah
For 24% of the audience, however, Mariah should be used sparingly. There is just so much snark you can take, and, quite frankly, you’re not dying to know what she thinks about every single plot development.

Let her host the show, and let her chat with Sharon once in a while. But if she and Tessa are happy, let them stay happy… off-screen.
