More Love In the Afternoon For The Young and the Restless Devon and Elena?

On The Young and the Restless, Devon spent months and months sobbing over his long lost love, Hilary, and swearing that no one woman could ever measure up to her wonderfulness.

Then he met Elena (Brytni Sarpy) and figured, eh, good enough. They talked about music, they talked about dead parents, and they talked about Devon’s (Bryton James) anxiety attacks. Then they jumped into bed.

Without a concrete conflict, the pair had to settle for haggling over Devon paying off Elena’s student loans. And then jumping into bed.

Their current story is Elena getting back into medicine… and coming home to jump into bed with Devon. But are fans clamoring for more? How an incredible 31,000 voted!

Romancing the Stone
Sex is great, 68% of you assert, but how about more romance? We’re not really sure what Devon and Elena see in each other… maybe it’s because we see so little of them. They show up at weddings and club openings together. They have dinner with Nate (Sean Dominic) and give him advice on his love life. Those aren’t stories. Those are contractual obligations.

You want to see an actual relationship. The good, the bad, and, OK, sure, the sexy. But love scenes need to be earned with scenes of falling in love. Did we ever really get that?

Tone It Down
On the other hand, 32% of the audience think Devon and Elena already get plenty of romance. On the couch, in the shower, in the kitchen. All we ever see them do is make out, then wake up and discuss how they’ve just made out.

You think this couple needs less romance and more of a point. Let’s see them at work, with their friends, anywhere but in bed, and maybe then we’ll get a better sense of who they are… and why we should care. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
