It was a big week for soap news last month when The Young and the Restless (YR) veteran Eileen Davidson announced that she would be exiting the show.
Ashley Abbott may not have had a front burner storyline lately, but she was in the thick of things.
She joined Jack (Peter Bergman) pushing their mom, Dina (Marla Adams), to identify his biological dad.
The, she joined forces with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) to figure out who was trying to bring down Victor’s (Eric Braeden) company. And daughter Abby (Melissa Ordway) is always in need of advice for her messed up love life.
So, Ashley is a pretty important player in Genoa City. Will fans be sad to see her go? (With the caveat that the role has been recast twice previously, with actresses Brenda Epperson and Shari Shattuck). Almost 13,000 wanted to make sure we knew how they felt!
Quitters Never Win
And, unfortunately, fans of actors who quit, are feeling like the losers, as 48% of you confess you’re crushed about the upcoming departure. Genoa City needs Ashley! She is the only person who can put Jack in his place, and only the second person – Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), obviously being the first – to do the same to Victor.
The Show Must Go On
Ashley is the voice of reason in Genoa City and we’ll miss her, 39% concede, but one monkey don’t stop no show, and life will go on.
Abby, Jack, and Victor will survive. So, we presume, will Ravi (Abhi Sinha), since we haven’t seen much of him after Ashley lost interest. Besides, she’s come back before….
See You Later
Good riddance to self-righteous rubbish, 12% of the audience cheers. Ashley always thought she was so much better than everyone else. Let her go and find someone she deems worthy of her presence.
The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
