In less than two years, Kelly Sullivan has became a pivotal member of “The Young and the Restless” canvas and fans are still shocked by her character’s demise.
The writer’s kept Sage’s shocking death under lock and key. Even when rumors started just days before her accident, the show didn’t comment. Even Sullivan didn’t know Sage would die until the script came out.
“I knew the story was going to eventually unravel and the truth would come out, and I was excited for that,” Sullivan told Soap Opera Digest. “I didn’t know how or when it was going to be written, until after it was written.”
Sullivan wasn’t the only one shocked by the plot twist. In an earlier interview, Joshua Morrow (Nick) also said he had no idea his on-screen wife would be killed. He only heard about her exit when Sullivan texted him the news.
While Sage’s tragic death devastated fans, Sullivan admitted it added drama to the show. “The writers knocked it out of the park. It was a beautiful end to a tragic and bittersweet story.”
Leaving Y&R has opened new doors for Sullivan. The actress currently has various projects in the works, but she admits to missing her Y&R family.
“There is so much love in that Y&R building. I miss them all terribly and love them dearly,” she told Digest.
If you miss Sullivan on your Y&R screens, you can catch her in the Lifetime Movie “The Stranger Inside,” as well as with Robert Adamson (Noah) in his short film “Ashes.”
