The Young and the Restless (YR) recently announced some big cast returns in honor of the show’s 45th anniversary. Among them is Kelly Kruger coming back as MacKenzie (“Mac”) Browning Hellstrom.
Kruger’s one of five actresses who’ve played the part of Mac. She played the role from February 2002 to July 2003 and was thrilled to post her return to the Y&R set on Instagram.
During her run, Mac wed Billy (then Bryan Brown) only to have the union annulled after they (mistakenly) believed they were related because at the time Kay (Jeanne Cooper), who was Mac’s grandmother, and Jill (Jess Walton), who is Billy’s mom, believed that they were mother and daughter!
There’s backstory that Kruger’s walking into — we’ve learned that Mac is suing her soon-to-be-ex J.T. for custody of their children, Dylan and Becca. So, when Mac returns viewers can count on some electric scenes between the two.
Perhaps there’s more to Kruger’s return than a nod to the show’s anniversary. Mac could stick around and act as an on-going conflict to J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) and Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) relationship.
Recently, Kruger’s been recurring as Eva on The Bold and the Beautiful, Forrester Creations’ overseas publicist. In real-life, she’s wed to Darin Brooks (Wyatt).
The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
