Justin Hartley continues to enjoy his award-winning run on This Is Us as angsty-Kevin Pearson. He recently spoke to a group of reporters to celebrate the hit NBC series and fielded a series of questions about the show and his life!
Asked what roles he’s often recognized for (in addition to Kevin), Hartley responded, “I still get Fox from Passions at least a few times a week. I get a lot of Adam Newman [of The Young and the Restless], too. And Oliver [Queen aka Green Arrow] from Smallville.”
Speaking of Adam, how does he feel about the show recasting the part of Victor’s (Eric Braeden) presumed dead son.
“Good,” says Hartley, knowing the show needs to do what it needs to do. He adds with a mischievous smile that he could resume playing the role during the This Is Us hiatus. “I’ve got the time. I’m off here [soon].”
Keep in mind, folks, the actor is likely kidding! He enjoyed his time in Genoa City greatly, earning a well-deserved nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his work on YR.
In addition to being on This Is Us, Hartley is too busy with other parts to make the time commitment that’s needed for Adam.
His next two projects are titled Little and Lexi. In the former, Hartley’s mum on details, but says he plays a school teacher.
The latter, he says, “is about a guy who loses touch with personal relationships because he’s always buried in his phone. He falls in love with his phone!”

Earlier this year, the actor won his second SAG (Screen Actors Guild Award) along with the rest of the This Us cast for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
The honor was especially sweet and not just because the statue looks like it should be part of a set of bookends!
“It feels great,” Hartley says. “It’s the best. There are actors in that [awards show] room that I’ve looked up to for years and years. To know they’re clicking a box [for us], it’s overwhelming.”
While nighttime serials rarely enjoy the lengthy runs that daytime soaps do, Hartley prefers to enjoy the moment he’s in now — and not focusing on the show’s inevitable conclusion.
“It’ll be heartbreaking [when the show ends],” he says. “I try to tell myself to stop and enjoy the moment because this is a special moment. I may never be on a better show than this in my life. It’s hard to beat this.”
