Chance is recovering from a gunshot wound on The Young and the Restless, and, in real-life, his portrayer, Donny Boaz, is sharing a health update. The actor has tested positive for COVID-19.

Donny Boaz Out For Now

“I have a little news that I need to share,” Boaz posted on Instagram. “A few weeks ago, I tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully, I did not have any symptoms. In following guidelines, I quarantined at home so you may not see me on Y&R for a bit. I’m happy to say I’ve returned to work and will be back on the air very soon. Thank you for your continued support.”

Could this affect what viewers will see on air? Recently, Chance proposed to Abby (Melissa Ordway) and she accepted. In time, the show has come up with a temporary Chance, one who is quite familiar to Ordway.

Soap Opera Digest reports that Ordway’s husband, Justin Gaston (ex-Ben, Days of our Lives) will be taking over for Boaz. Not only does Gaston bring his daytime experience from DAYS to the role, he and Ordway potentially will be able to bring to life more intimate moments on-screen without having to use body doubles.

Over on sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful, spouses and real-life partners of actors including Kayla Ewell (ex-Caitlin, BB), the real-life wife of Tanner Novlan (Finn), have stepped in as a body double. Stay tuned for news of Gaston’s first air date.

On November 2, Deadline reported that YR was continuing with production after two people tested positive for COVID-19.

Reportedly, an email was sent out to the show’s production crew stating that “production received two new positive test results for COVID-19 on November 1, 2020, and the individuals have begun self-isolation…the affected areas of the production will be deep cleaned and disinfected. Contact tracing has been completed and those individuals who were in close contact with the affected individuals have been notified. The production will take steps to respect all affected workers’ privacy.” The Young and the Restless airs weekday son CBS. Check local listings for air times.
