Mariah and Tessa on The Young and the Restless
On The Young and the Restless (YR), Tessa is one big question mark. She just showed up one day, singing outside the coffee house.
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) mused to herself, “Hmmm, that prickly vagabond is exactly whom I want teaching my grandson music. I would also like to move her into my home, hire her as my assistant, and make her my confidant. I am an excellent judge of people. After all, I married Victor.”
We know a little more about Mariah, namely that she was kidnapped from Sharon (Sharon Case) at birth, grew up in a cult, doesn’t really trust people, and is very insecure about her relationship with Devon (Bryton James). Especially where his ex-wife, Hilary (Mishael Morgan), is concerned. Mariah is also quite prickly.
Maybe that’s why she and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) hit it off so well. But is friendship all there is there?
The Past Is Merely Prologue
All Tessa has let slip about her past up to this point is that she isn’t close to her family, except for a younger sister. And then there are her ongoing weird interactions with Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) app designer, Zack (Ryan Ashton). She’s also mentioned a bad former boyfriend, and viewers have leapt to the obvious conclusion that Zack is him.
But he doesn’t necessarily have to be. Heck, he could be her sister’s ex-boyfriend. Or the ex-boyfriend of Tessa’s ex-girlfriend.
Think about it. We’ve seen nothing to suggest that Tessa is into men. Her lukewarm reaction to Noah’s (Robert Adamson) advances certainly suggest she isn’t being swept of her feet. Maybe Tessa is into women? Maybe she’s into both?
What Went Before
The same goes for Mariah (Camryn Grimes). We’ve only known her for a few years. And she hasn’t exactly sizzled with any of the guys she’s dated. Mariah might have a Sapphic past we know nothing about either.
If that’s the case, she and Tessa have some serious chemistry happening.
