On The Young and the Restless, Summer Newman is a young, beautiful heiress, with parents and grandparents who dote on her.
She has a boyfriend who takes her side on anything and forgave her for dumping him at the altar (not to mention, earlier, blackmailing him into marriage). She has a glamorous job which she earned all on her own by working hard – and being family friends with the owner. But, alas, life is not yet perfect for Summer (Hunter King).
There’s this new girl in town. She has a job many levels below Summer. She once smiled at Kyle (Michael Mealor). Jack (Peter Bergman) doesn’t hate her guts. Summer must destroy her!
Is the poor little rich girl too obsessed with Sally (Courtney Hope)? What almost 3,000 voters told us:
A majority 54% of the audience really doesn’t get where all this animosity is coming from. Sally started life so far below Summer that she has no chance to catch up, no matter how hard she works. That’s what privilege is.
Summer is coming off as petty and, frankly, very mean girl. It’s like she can’t handle anyone else in her age range having… anything. First, Lola (Sasha Calle), whom she resented so much for offering Kyle her condolences about Dina’s (Marla Adams) death. And now Sally. Not a good look, hon.
How dare that trashy Sally think she deserves the same things that Summer was born to! She doesn’t know her place, that’s her problem.
A slightly smaller 46% of you believe Summer is absolutely justified in bringing her down. Go to L.A., find out everything about her past, and smear her in front of both Jack (Peter Bergman) and Lauren (Tracey Bregman). When poor people start wanting things, that’s when the naturally superior like Summer risk losing things. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
