Sharon and Nick are getting more and more worried by the day on The Young and the Restless. Faith is growing up, and she’s starting to remind them of her big sister, Cassie. The sweet little girl who grew into a responsible teen.
Cassie (Camryn Grimes) was such a responsible teen that when her friend, Daniel, was too drunk to drive, Cassie responsibly took the wheel. Despite not having a license. Or knowing how to do it particularly well. Cassie crashed the car and eventually died.
As a result, Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) started a foundation to discourage teens from drinking and driving. Even though Cassie wasn’t driving drunk when she died. She was driving underage.
Now Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) seems to be following in her sister’s footsteps. Only she’s actually drinking. Does her story remind you of Cassie’s? What almost 3,000 viewers told us:
A majority 75% of the audience is definitely having flashbacks. And you don’t like it. Been there, done that. You couldn’t bear Nick and Sharon losing another daughter in such a similar way. Not to mention, you’d think Faith would have grown up hearing about the dangers of teen alcoholism.
Maybe if she was acting out in another way, like shoplifting, or sleeping around, or cutting, or an eating disorder, it would be interesting. This rerun isn’t.
A much smaller 19% think the stories are different enough, especially because Cassie wasn’t drinking. Faith is sinking slowly into her addiction, thanks to being teased about Adam (Mark Grossman), and Jordan encouraging her. This is a very different story.
In last place are the 6% who see the parallels – and find them riveting. You’re right there with Sharon and Nick and their terror of losing Faith the way they lost Cassie. It only makes the story more powerful! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
