CNN picked up a report that Gonzalez had died from the official Mexican news outlet Notimex as well as TV stations for which Gonzalez worked, TV Azteca and Televisa.
Gonzalez went public with her illness in the summer of 2016. Doctors discovered she had cancerous tissue in her abdomen. She went into remission in 2017, but, sadly, cancer returned earlier this year.
She is survived by husband Lorenzo Lazo and Constanza, her 14-year-old daughter.

Her other credits include Corazón Salvaje, Doña Barbara, and Los ricos tambien lloran.

A former child star, Gonzalez appeared in telenovelas, movies, and stage productions for over 40 years.
Upon being diagnosed with cancer, Gonzalez lent her public voice to share her challenges including medical treatments and hair loss. She spoke to groups about cancer prevention, trying to help others.
