Hunter King is returnng to The Young and the Restless as Summer just in time for a hot “summer” storyline!
According to TVline, King, a two-time Emmy-winner for her portrayal of Summer Newman, is returning to the top-rated CBS soap as a contract player. Her first airdate is Monday, June 4th.
There’s no word on what brings Summer back to Genoa City, but in the TVline story we see Summer standing behind bars! Has she gotten herself into some legal trouble, or is it all a misunderstanding?
King left Y&R in 2016 in order to take a series regular role, Clementine, in the CBS ensemble sitcom Life in Pieces.
The actress was always open to doing both series.
In the summer of 2016, she told Soap Hub: “I’m just rolling with it and seeing how it works. I’m a series regular here and recurring at Y&R. We’ll see how the scheduling works out. As long as they’ll have me, I’ll work on both shows. I love being busy!”
It’s possible King will be sticking around Genoa City for a while since CBS has announced that Pieces will be returning as a mid-season replacement for the 2018-19 TV season.
However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Pieces’ shooting schedule won’t start this summer.
Maybe this time around, Summer will find a successful romance. She’s struck out in love quite a few times. Her husband Austin (Matthew Atkinson) died less than a year into the young couple’s marriage.
Next, Summer’s fiance Luca (Miles Gaston Villanueva) turned out to be overly aggressive and, thus, the engagement ended.
Luca left town, but not before telling Summer that he truly did care about her.
This time around perhaps Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Summer can have that romance they once wanted to, but were denied when it appeared that they both shared the same father – Jack (Peter Bergman)?
The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
