There was more than the usual fan outcry after it was announced that Greg Rikaart (Kevin) would be leaving The Young and the Restless, which may have led to the show inviting the actor to come back for some shows.
EW.com now reports that Rikaart will begin a two-week gig in Genoa City starting on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
Kevin’s Origins
While Rikaart is only due back for a limited run, let’s not forget that’s just how his time on the show began back in 2003. Kevin was introduced as a bookkeeper at Marsino’s nightclub. He was also an Internet predator who seduced an unsuspecting Lily, and he ended up giving her an STD.
It looked like he was going to be written out at one point, but then the writers revealed that Kevin was the long-lost half-brother of Michael Baldwin. Tying him to a regular character allowed Kevin to remain on the canvas. In time, Kevin’s parents were introduced, showing us why Kevin turned out the way he did.
What’s Next?
No word on what brings Kevin back to town. But Soap Hub hears that this time he won’t be coming back with true love, Chloe or daughter, Bella.
Perhaps Kevin’s expert computer skills will be needed to help Sharon shut down the sex ring involving Crystal and Alice. Or maybe a crisis involving Michael and Lauren will quickly develop, necessitating some family aid.
No matter what the catalyst is, fans are glad their wishes are being granted and that Rikaart is making a return appearance. Might his comeback last longer than two weeks? Stay tuned!
