Viewers will get to see her onscreen for a while longer, but Eileen Davidson is on her way to a new chapter in her life.
On Friday, Davidson bid Y&R farewell and revealed that one of her final scenes is with the Abbott clan, but didn’t reveal what her last scene would entail or when it airs.
As Y&R tapes about four to six weeks in advance, viewers could expect to see Davidson air throughout October and possibly in November sweeps.
There’s been no word of the show possibly recasting the part. In the past, two other actresses have played Ashley — Brenda Epperson from 1988 to the mid-90s. Shari Shattuck then took over the role and played the Jabot chemist/executive from 1996-99.
After Shattuck vacated the part, Davidson returned to Genoa City. She took a break from playing Ashley on Y&R and brought the character over to The Bold and the Beautiful in 2007.
In 2008, she returned to Y&R and has remained there ever since. For a few years, she did double duty with Y&R and the reality TV series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Davidson’s exit is one of the many cast changes the usually stable show has gone through this year. In addition to Davidson, Y&R has also bid adieu to Melissa Claire Egan (ex-Chelsea) and Mishael Morgan (ex-Hilary).
Doug Davidson (Paul) recently confirmed he’s gone off contract, while Christel Khalil (Lily) has voluntarily switched to non-contract status.
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
