Hilary has gone through multiple professional incarnations on The Young and the Restless (YR).
She was Cane’s assistant. She was Jack’s assistant. She helped Simon Neville with his research (and all she got was this lousy coma), and she was a talk-show host, before taking over the entire station.
She’s gone through multiple personal incarnations, too. She’s been a villain, she’s been a victim. And now she’s mostly a gossip. Both personally and professionally.
Are fans down with this version of Hilary (Mishael Morgan)? Almost 5,000 viewers whispered how they really felt, and swore us to secrecy. But it’s OK if we just tell you….
Crossing Jordan… and a Few Other People, Too
Hilary doesn’t care much about other people… unless it’s about what they can do for her.
She urged Juliet (Laur Allen) to sue Brash and Sassy for sexual harassment because she wanted to needle Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Lily (Christel Khalil).
She aired the footage of Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Victor (Eric Braeden) coming to blows, for the ratings.
She aired the footage of Victoria (Amelia Heinle) yelling about sleeping with Hochman (Ben Hermes) for the ratings… and the Evulz.
Now she’s pumping Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) for details about Jordan’s (Darnell Kirkwood) past so she can get him back. This time, it’s personal. But, either way, 82% of you think Hilary’s gossip-mongering has gone too far!
Target Market
On the other hand, 9% of the audience is obviously the demo Hilary is shooting for, because you say gossip is fine… as long as it targets the right people. And is actually interesting. And juicy.
It’s Funny Because It’s Happening To Someone Else
And then there’s the 8% minority who find Hilary’s actions absolutely hilarious. Sure, she’s hurting people and ruining lives. But it’s making you chuckle. And isn’t that worth any collateral damage?
