Dr. Markham’s identity is under suspicion on The Young and the Restless. There are clues that he could be the notorious Martin Laurent. Even Traci noticed something suspicious about Patty’s doctor.

Key Takeaways

  • Dr. Markham kept several of Alan Laurent’s books.
  • Markham continues to display deeply suspicious behavior.
  • Is Y&R slowly building toward a Martin Laurent reveal?

Getting Behind Dr. Markham’s Identity

The truth behind Dr. Markham’s (Jere Burns) identity is quickly unraveling. When Traci (Beth Maitland) first ran into him in Genoa City, she immediately noticed something dark and sinister about him.

This could’ve been one of the first clues that Dr. Markham could be Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins). There are similarities between his behavior and the suspicious presence of Alan Laurent’s books in his study.

Even Diane (Susan Walters) noticed that Dr. Markham owned many of Dr. Alan Laurent’s books. As she looked at one of the books, she commented to herself that he had no idea that his own twin brother would cause his death.

There was another twin clue in a previous scene. Diane has been trying to work her charm on Dr. Markham to get him to lower his guard around her.

When she asked him about his astrological sign, he mentioned Gemini, known as the twin signs. This isn’t a throwaway line. This could’ve hinted at his connection to the Laurent brothers.

Is Y&R Setting Up a Big Reveal?

Is the soap genuinely building toward a Martin Laurence reveal? Or is this being done on purpose to lead viewers to believe that Dr. Markham is Martin before pulling the rug out from under them?

Martin might not be dead after all. He might’ve met Patty (Stacy Haiduk) at Fairview, where she received mental health treatment. She probably had him undergo plastic surgery, so he could conceal his identity to mess with the Abbotts.

In the meantime, Jack (Peter Bergman) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) are in a race against the clock to rescue Diane from Markham’s house. Jack already set the trap by luring Dr. Markham away from the house.

He cracked into Patty’s phone and texted Dr. Markham. Unsurprisingly, the password was “kitty,” which makes it very easy to hack.

Kyle is already on his way to make his big escape. Is Dr. Markham a pawn for Patty? Or is he much more of a dangerous villain that they have no idea what they’re getting themselves into?

There’s also the possibility that Dr. Markham is a distraction, while Patty is the dangerous villain that the Abbotts need to look out for.
