Dina died happy on The Young and the Restless. But were fans happy with how her sendoff was handled? Almost 4,000 viewers let us know how they felt about it:
The Young and the Restless Polling: A Beautiful Mind
A majority 68% of you were very happy with how the Abbotts – and the show – said goodbye to Dina (Marla Adams). Unlike most patients in her position, instead of losing mental and physical capacities to the point where the woman is unrecognizable and utterly devoid of dignity, Dina was beautifully dressed.
She was able to walk downstairs, receive a gift that Jack (Peter Bergman) decided she desperately needed, and suddenly regain enough cognitive function to make a beautiful speech to all of her children, apologize for her decades of sins, and die with a shake and shudder. We all hope to go that way.
Lost and Found
We’re so sad to see her go, 30% of the audience laments. Not unlike Dina’s three children. Jack (Peter Bergman) wishes they’d spent less time fighting and more time bonding. Ashley (Eileen Davidson) noted that, no matter what, she and Dina somehow always ended up crying, while Traci (Beth Maitland) finally believed her mother liked her writing when she no longer recognized the author. This is all terribly sad. Not only for the fact that Dina is dead but for the way that she lived it – so that her children were forced to feel that way.
Twin Set
Only 2% are even willing to entertain the notion that Dina might have had a long lost twin who could pop up in Genoa City at any moment. One Dina is plenty per lifetime, and she was barely onscreen for the last year, in any case. Would her twin even be someone we care about? The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
