It was a massive shock for The Young and the Restless fans when Dina blurted out that John wasn’t Jack’s father.
(She’d already destroyed Ashley’s with a similar truth bomb back in the 1980s; we assumed she was done.)
For several weeks there, Jack (Peter Bergman) gnashed his teeth, railed against the world, threw tantrums, quit his job, and bribed bank managers into opening safety deposit boxes so he could get at the truth.
When Jack thought Phillip Chancellor was his long-lost dad, he tried to convince Jill (Jess Walton) to exhume Phillip’s remains. When she refused, Kyle (Michael Mealor) did a little grave-robbing and came up with a bone.
Jack had the DNA tested and… it wasn’t a match.
And that was the end of that. Since then, he’s been focusing on running Dark Horse with Nick (Joshua Morrow), and the subject seems to have been dropped.
Do you want Y&R to get back to the story? Here’s how over 7,000 fans feel.
Put An End To It
Yes, 67% of you scream in frustration. What was the point of opening up this can of worms if you weren’t going to give viewers a payoff? Since John is dead, the only ones affected by the reveal are Jack and Kyle, so why aren’t the writers playing that story?
We haven’t seen much of Dina (Marla Adams) lately, either. It almost seems like they want us to forget it ever happened.
(Not that we wouldn’t like that, the story never made much sense, but at least say that Dina was confused and end it – rather than just letting the plot point dangle.)
Just Ignore It
On the other hand, 32% promise to be perfectly happy if the subject is never broached again.
Dina, herself, kept saying how much Jack looked like John and even confused the two while in the throes of dementia. Why would she do that if they weren’t father and son? Let’s just pretend this never happened.
