Is The Young and the Restless lacking in the young department? The biggest stories currently on the canvas revolve around the parents and even the grandparents of teens.
Which is great, history is to be respected at all costs, and older folks certainly have more depth than angsty teens. On the other hand, the grandparents and parents of today first appeared in Genoa City as, well, angsty teens.
Remember Paul (Doug Davidson) and Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) beach bum (and STD) days? Remember mean girl Lauren (Tracey Bregman)? How about Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) in high-school?
The only reason we care about them now, is because we knew them then. So does YR need to beef up its teen scene as an investment in the future? Over 4000 viewers voted:
What Reed Needs
Now that Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle’s) son Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) is back in town, 45% of you think he needs some friends – pronto.
There’s no one around his age on the canvas now. Most of the young people are in their early to mid-twenties.
Maybe it’s time to age some folks, like Reed’s cousin, Faith, or Lily and Cane’s twins. Heck, even Neil’s mostly invisible son, Moses, could work.
But some new blood would be good, too. Maybe Jack (Peter Bergman) has grandchildren by now via Keemo (remember him? Jack doesn’t). Don’t leave Reed hanging!
