Nick Newman’s got it all — a great new girlfriend, tons of money in the bank, terrific kids, and a killer smile! But Victor and Nikki’s son has also seen his share of heartbreak on The Young and the Restless (YR) in recent months, courtesy of his father’s rejection.
Do you feel badly for Nick (Joshua Morrow)? Soap Hub posed this question to fans and the answers may surprise you! Read on to see how folks feel about Nick these days.
A Father’s (Tough) Love
Victor threw Nick to the curb both emotionally and money-wise after learning he tried to sabotage Nikki’s performance at the recent benefit concert.
Adding salt to the wounds, the mustached mogul signed off on Hilary (Mishael Morgan) airing the footage of the father and son altercation, embarrassing Nick (and himself to be honest) in the process. Ouch!
As harsh as this was, the majority of you, 54% to be exact, think that it’s time for Nick to stand on his own!
So far he seems to be doing that quite nicely. He’s okay with his sisters having relationships of their own with his father. Nick is venturing off in his business deals, hoping to pave his own way in the world.
While Victor (Eric Braeden) will probably come around and bring Nick back into the fold, Nick may very well be a stronger individual by the time that happens.
Victor’s Too Ruthless
Meanwhile 46% feel that this time (or perhaps once again?) Victor has gone too far! After all, Nick only had his mother’s best interests in mind when he tried to keep her from performing at the benefit gala.
Victor should be happy that his son wanted to protect Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). But, as Nick learned, Victor always likes to control the outcome, even if it means going against his own son!
Victor and his kids have been on the outs before so Nick is probably not going to have to go without his father’s support for very long. In fact, if anyone should have a problem in the relationship, it should be Nick.
He’s stood by and watched Victor marry his beloved Sharon not once, but twice. Granted, those unions were annulled, but still! Nick may very well be better off now that he’s rid of his dad!
