The last we saw of Dina Mergeron on The Young and the Restless, her “companion” Graham Bloodworth was wheeling her onto a private jet headed off to parts unknown.
The character’s exit times with the change in head writers from Sally Sussman (who brought the character back to the show) to Mal Young, who also serves as the show’s executive producer.
Does this mean we’ve seen the end of Dina (Marla Adams)? Soap Hub asked fans if they want to see her continue on with the show. Read on for the results!
She Bangs, She Bangs
Good news for Dina! A whopping 88.4% of you want to see Dina continue on Y&R beyond her current storyline. And why not? The show has said farewell to many veteran characters over the last 10 years who were in matriarchal and patriarchal roles.
John Abbott, Katherine Chancellor, and Liz Foster have all sadly gone to that great soap in the sky. The best soaps have always been multi-generational. Keeping Dina adds to the gravitas of the Abbott clan.
She has the opportunity to be a good influence on granddaughter Abby and continue to mend fences with her children: Jack, Ashley, and Traci.
Thanks For The Memories
A mere 11.6% of you think that Dina doesn’t need to continue now that she’s off the canvas. (Is Graham’s mother from Florida in on this voting?) It’s not usual for characters to be given a rest once their frontburner story has climaxed. But first, the Abbott kids need to make sure Dina is safe and sound.
They’re not going to rest until she is! If and when Dina is rescued, she could either return to France for a while or go with Traci to New York before eventually returning to Genoa City to be with her family.
History Repeats
Y&R has a history of bringing characters back. Sometimes a character can be gone for years (like Alice Johnson or Gloria Abbott) or a matter of weeks (Kevin Fisher) before he or she returns to the canvas. With most of you hoping that Dina sticks around, we can only hope that she does and helps keep the Abbott family front and center!
