How Dead Is Dead? Which Y&R Character Should Return From The Grave?

Of all the soaps on the air, The Young and the Restless has refrained from bringing characters back from the dead the most. It’s not unheard of, but you’re more likely to see a character who’s gone to that great soap in the sky stay that way.

But Y&R has tweaked history in the past to resurrect characters (remember Phillip III?). So Soap Hub asked fans which late Genoa City persona they’d like to see return from the beyond. Read on to see the results!

“A” his name is Adam
The majority, just under 60% of you, want to see Adam Newman return. Outside of Victor, Genoa City hasn’t had a major antagonist driving story since Adam’s departure. Resurrecting Victor’s second son would throw a wrench into Nick and Chelsea’s romance and also get Chloe off the hook for his “murder.”

While Justin Hartley (ex-Adam) is happily ensconced on the primetime hit This Is Us, we’re confident Y&R’s ace casting department can find another actor to play Adam.

Cliffhanger
Coming in next with almost 22% of your vote is Drucilla Winters, who fell off the side of a cliff with Sharon during a fight with Phyllis.

Her return would push the Winters clan to the forefront of the action. Wouldn’t it be great to see Dru react to all the women (Karen, Sofia, Yolanda, Leslie, and Hilary) who’ve been paired with Neil since her “demise?”

Abbott Patriarch
John Abbott earned the next amount of votes with 15% (with the remaining 3% going to other characters). The Abbott patriarch is greatly missed, but perhaps he didn’t score higher because he’s been making sporadic appearances as a figment of his loved ones’ imaginations since his untimely demise.

Timing Is Everything
The Y&R writers will likely weigh heavily the pros and cons of bringing Adam, Dru, John, or any character back from the dead. Resurrections can result in compelling story.

Victor’s return from the dead in 1993 shot the show to high ratings, but in that case viewers knew he was alive and well from the beginning. Ultimately, it’s something not to be done lightly.

The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
