The Young and the Restless star Courtney Hope recently joined General Hospital star Maurice Benard on his YouTube talk show State of Mind to address an important topic. The get-together was a “family affair” of sorts, as Hope is engaged to Chad Duell, who plays Benard’s GH son Michael.
“Courtney is courageous, so smart, and composed when talking to me about @breakingthechainsfdn and anxiety, eating disorders, and the importance of therapy,” Benard shared on Instagram. “I was so happy to have her and she’s marrying my son.. well my tv son 😉.”
Hope, who tells Benard she was honored to join him on State of Mind, explained that her work with @breakingthechainsfdn came about after she realized she had an eating disorder. The organization is a nonprofit that works towards changing the face of eating disorders through art and community. The actress told Benard that today she is better and healed. However, when the disorder came on, it took her some time to realize what was happening.
“I did a movie in Bulgaria and I got a parasite,” she explains. “I started to get really, really thin, but I was working out so I still had my muscle. So, everyone was complimenting me [on] how great I looked.” Around this time, Hope says she was also on anxiety medication. “There was a lot of stuff I felt I couldn’t control,” she notes, adding she felt at the time the one thing she could control was looking good.
“Love what your doing, it really helps people to see [they’re] not alone, and there is help. thank you,” wrote @ritabugtoo. @wanda.brown322 shared: “Thank you Maurice for the great [interview], your looking good, she will be a sweet daughter-in-law, God Bless your son and Bride to be, lots of love ❤️ to them.” To check out the full interview with Maurice Benard and Courtney Hope, click here.
