We realize that Sharon Newman Rosales got her therapist’s license somewhere off-screen on The Young and the Restless. And we realize that, even before that, she was a caring and empathetic person. But, seriously, is that all the woman is going to do now? Not to mention Sharon Case, the Daytime Emmy winner, who plays her?

Young and the Restless: Sounding Board

This past summer, ever since the also off-screen death of her latest husband, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso), Sharon has listened to ex-lover Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) insist that he was totes happy with his decision to dump new love Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) — even though anyone with eyeballs and ears could tell that wasn’t the case.

She’s had to listen too many times to her ex-husband, Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow), cry on her shoulder about killing Ashland Locke (Robert Newman), only to have Daddy Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) stick his nose in and make the situation a thousand times worse.

And she’s also had to listen to daughter-in-law Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) wonder if Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman Abbot (Allison Lanier) only offered her a job out of nepotism. Of course, they did! It’s how they — and everyone on The Young and the Restless — got their jobs! Go with it!

Y&R: My Life

The point is, Sharon has done nothing but listen and offer advice. This is the woman who used to spar with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). Who has helped hide more than one body. Who lost a child and found a child, and had affairs, and married her father-in-law, and beat breast cancer, and looks fabulous in her underwear. This is a woman who should be front and center and driving story.

Yeah, Rey is dead. Since she doesn’t even seem to be mourning him, it’s the perfect time to launch a new romance. Sure, another go-around with Nick seems obvious. But Adam is kind of at loose ends, too. Not to mention Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Find this woman something to do — pronto!
