The Young and the Restless viewers were sad to see Rey Rosales killed off. But we were excited by the possibilities suggested by a car crash featuring not just Rey, but Victoria Newman Locke, Ashland Locke, and possibly even Sally Spectra, who was also pointedly on the road at the same time.

Young and the Restless: Legal Guardian

Here are three scenarios that would have been better than what we’ve gotten so far: Ashland (Robert Newman) had just signed the annulment papers from Victoria (Amelia Heinle). They hadn’t been filed yet.

What if the accident left Victoria in a coma…and Ashland as her next of kin and medical proxy? Ashland would not only be in charge of Victoria’s hospital care, he’d step into her shoes at Newman-Locke, as well. He’s have everything he ever wanted! And Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) would be spitting mad…and helpless. Who wouldn’t want to watch that?

Y&R: Stay With Me, Baby

Instead of telling Victoria that she wasn’t at fault for Rey’s (Jordi Vilasuso) death, Ashland tells her that she killed the man due to negligence. Ashland will be forced to say as much to the police.

But he can’t testify against Victoria…if they’re still married. And when Victor goes spitting mad, Ashland explains why he needs to stay a member of the family…forever. Victor wouldn’t risk Victoria’s freedom just to pettily send Ashland away, would he?

Young and the Restless: Impartial Observer

Sally (Courtney Hope) comes to Ashland and tells him that she saw the whole thing. In fact, she filmed it with her phone. The video shows that Ashland was at fault. But Sally is willing to go along with his story that Victoria is the culprit. If, in exchange, Ashland helps her get Victoria out of the CEO’s chair…and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) in it.
