Now that Billy Abbott has himself a podcast on The Young and the Restless, something interesting has to happen as a result of it. Right? Right???

The Young and the Restless Plays Misty For Billy

Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) seems to think that the rest of the world will find her boyfriend’s middle of the night, off the top of his head navel-gazing as fascinating as she – and he – do. But what if the fascination goes too far?

Y&R: In the Mist

In the past, before there were podcasts, there was this thing called radio. And people would talk on the radio. Often in the middle of the night. They’d also sometimes play music. And they’d develop fan bases. Pretty intense ones.

In the 1971 movie, Play Misty For Me, Clint Eastwood (before he talked to chairs) plays a disc jockey who attracts the attention of a very enthusiastic admirer, Jessica Walter (before she suffered from Arrested Development). She eventually tries to kill Clint and his sweet girlfriend, Donna Mills (before she either arrived in Knots Landing or on General Hospital).

The Young and the Restless: Historical Documents

What if Billy’s (Jason Thompson) ramblings get him an unhinged fan of his own? How about one of Lily’s former cell-mates, who hears Billy talking about how much he loves her and grows jealous that, a couple of years ago, she and Lily were both jailbirds.

But now, Lily has herself a millionaire boyfriend and cushy job running a company that does…something. You can see how a felon who can’t find a job due to her record might get jealous. And a wee bit homicidal.

Then again, why go looking for outside psychos when there’s one already on the canvas – and she already has a connection to Billy?

Yes, we’re talking about Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). She definitely can get obsessive. As in murderously obsessive. Just ask Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). And Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso). The object of her obsession doesn’t even have to be Billy, per se. It can be their son, Johnny. Chelsea can get pretty obsessive about her kids, too.
