On The Young and the Restless, when Victor Newman told “Billy Boy Abbott” why he hated him, our jaws dropped. The Mustache gave a reason that could easily apply to others he claims to care about deeply.
Young and the Restless: If Victor Hates Billy, Then He Hates His Kids
Victor (Eric Braeden) explained why he’d always hated Billy (Jason Thompson). While some of Victor’s ire came from Billy’s having repeatedly hurt Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle), his other reasons seemed somewhat shocking.
Victor told Billy that he disliked him because the younger man was born with a silver spoon. But, unlike Victor, Billy’s family gave him every opportunity, and he squandered it. Meanwhile, the older man worked his way from nothing to become the business tycoon that he is in Genoa City.
The stunning hypocrisy of Victor’s Young and the Restless words to Billy wasn’t lost on us. We can see how Victor’s attitude translates to his children. Victoria, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), and even Abby Newman-Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) certainly received the same advantages as Billy simply by the luck of their birth.

Victor Newman’s Rant Explains Things
While family is the most important thing to Victor, he often appears to hate his children. Or, rather, Victor hates his children’s actions. In various instances over the years, Victor’s even been in all-out wars with his children. Perhaps some of why he expects so much of them is because of the advantages he gave them.
It’s also possible that Victor hasn’t examined his feelings for his children in light of the words he said to Billy. We wonder if Victor might need to do some soul searching to figure out if somewhere deep down he hates, or at least doesn’t respect, his kids for the same reasons he said he hates Billy.
