The Young and the Restless viewers know that Naya Benedict is Amanda Sinclair’s biological mother from a wealthy family. So when Amanda testified against her grandfather, Sutton Ames, she expected Naya to hate her for it, but Amanda’s mother pleasantly surprised her. For that, Soap Hub presents Performer of the Week honors for Y&R on Naya’s portrayer, Ptosha Storey.

Ptosha Storey – Performer Of The Week

Naya let Amanda (Mishael Morgan) know how much she appreciated her. In the moving scene, Naya explained how much knowing Amanda changed her life. She mentioned that her daughter got into “good trouble” when Amanda stood up for her against Sutton (Jack Landron). Seeing Amanda stand up to her father made a difference in Naya’s life, especially because she’d never been able to stand up to him for herself.

Naya praised Amanda and acted like she was important to her, and Storey’s performance made us feel something real. The two women then planned the future. One that includes Naya’s excitement over Amanda and Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) opening a law firm together.

We truly felt the sense of pride Naya expressed to Amanda because of the convincing feelings that Storey brought to the scenes. It made us long for more of Amanda’s family in Genoa City.

Considering how Naya received Amanda initially, these scenes marked a true turning point in their mother-daughter relationship. Storey knocked them out of the park imparting real depth and feeling as she delivered her powerful lines. It made us feel something, which is what great performances should do. Brava Ptosha Storey! We hope to see more of Naya on Y&R.
