The Young and the Restless viewers know that Adam Newman is no saint. And yet, he’s made great strides in helping the Newman family these days, but he still finds himself coming out on bottom, which causes him to struggle. For his performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Adam’s portrayer, Mark Grossman.

Mark Grossman — Y&R Performer of the Week

Adam once again found himself losing out to Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) when it came to Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) choices. Grossman did an excellent job showing us Adam’s mixed feelings when it came to learning that instead of taking over as CEO at Newman Enterprises, Victoria hired Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) as her co-CEO with Victor’s blessing.

Grossman took a former full-on baddie and gave him a human side. When Adam told Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) his feelings on the situation, we loved seeing that instead of instantly turning to his baser desires, he saw the benefits of sticking by his family even if he certainly deserves better than they give him. Grossman was spot on with Adam’s facial expressions and body language in these scenes showing how his on-screen alter ego felt torn and was fighting his baser instincts.

However, perhaps the best scene of the week came when Adam ran into Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). The actor hit a perfect note with Adam’s surprise and the characters’ back and forth snarking hit the mark perfectly, and we’re looking forward to seeing what Diane and Adam may do in the future, considering what they did in the past. It’s especially intriguing to see Mark Grossman playing Adam to Walters’s Diane.
